Rates concessions

Eligible pensioners may be entitled to receive discounts and concessions on the rates payable for their home.

Pet ownership

Eligible pensioners may be entitled to a reduced fee for dog registration.

Assistance, guide or hearing dogs registration

Owners of a guide, hearing or assistance dog as defined by Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), may apply for fee relief for dog registration. This will reduce the registration fee to nil (conditions apply).

Pet owners aged 65 years and older may be eligible for short term emergency pet care, discounted vaccinations and vet services through Animal Welfare League Queensland's, Golden Hearts program. For more information visit the Golden Hearts Program website or phone 07 5509 9033.

Seniors card

Eligible seniors can apply for a Seniors Card, Seniors Card +go, or a Seniors Business Discount Card to receive discounts and concessions. For more information visit the Queensland Government website or phone 13 74 68.

Free Seniors Bus Travel Initiative

Eligible Gold Coast seniors are able to travel for free on Gold Coast Surfside buses between 8.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday (public holidays included) and all day on weekends. Find out if you're eligible and how to apply on our Free bus travel for seniors & veterans page.

Queensland Government concessions

Pensioner concession card

The Department of Human Services provides a range of concessions to eligible older Australians, including reduced cost medicines. For more information visit the Department of Human Services website or phone 13 23 00.

Hearing services & aids

The Australian Government provides pensioners and other eligible people with access to a range of free and subsidised hearing services, including assessment, hearing aids, support and maintenance. For more information visit the Hearing Services website or phone 1800 500 726.

Adult dental services

Adults receiving benefits from a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or Queensland Seniors Card may be eligible for publicly funded oral health care. For more information visit the Queensland Health website or phone 1300 300 850.

Australia Post concession stamps
